The Disney Castle Returns With A New LEGO Set

The LEGO Disney Castle 71040 was originally released in 2016, providing collectors with a suitably large and epic brick-built model of the famous castle that graces the Disney logo and theme parks worldwide. This popular set retired some time ago, but fan anticipation has been growing for the much-hyped 2023 remake, strongly rumoured for release on July 1st.

The Disney Castle 43222 will be similar in scope to the previous set. However, it will also feature updates to the style of the castle interiors and exteriors, along with a new roster of minifigures. With a rumoured 4,837 bricks, the new model is also set to be the largest LEGO Disney set to date.

As seen on the LEGO box art and model interior leaks, the new set has a celebratory theme intended to coincide with the ongoing Disney100 anniversary festivities this year. Fireworks (built from LEGO elements) can be seen erupting above the towering spires, and the rest of the castle features strong gold highlights throughout. The fireworks could make for some exciting lighting kit effects "“ we look forward to seeing what the clever designers at companies such as Light My Bricks, BriksMax and Lightailing come up with.

After scouring the internet, we've deduced that the set will include 12 royalty-themed minifigures: Prince Florian, Charming, Philip and Naveen, along with Princess Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, and Tiana. The troop of brick-built Disney characters will be complete by the addition of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, plus two more minifigures that remain a mystery.

Previous Disney LEGO Castle Sets

As mentioned, LEGO previously released the Disney Castle 71040 set, which is now retired. Collectors can also still purchase the Mini Disney Castle 40478, which offers a more affordable, small version of the castle complete with pearlized golden tower tops and opalescent blue rooftop cones.
